Father of Three Murdered in Mexico - Family Here Struggling in Congregate Shelter

Teachers Helped Pool Together Some Funds but More Needed
A beloved father of three children at our local school was deported a few weeks ago. Tragically, while in Mexico trying to work towards a reunifying with his family, he was murdered. Mom and children are carrying deep pain and struggling to grieve while living in a congregate shelter (hundreds of cots in a large room). It is as awful as you can imagine-completely heartbreaking.
Teachers have helped pool together some funds to cover initial rent for the family to move into their own apartment, but we need community support to cover funds for Chicago Furniture Bank and food so they can focus on their well-being, not just their survival.
Any funds raised above what they need to get out of their shelter and into their own room they would like to share with another family in grief after their young daughter died because she did not have enough food or access to medicine in Venezuela.
Thank you for your support, we are stronger together.
